Our editorial policy
This page explains how we produce content, so you can judge whether to trust it. We cover food intolerance, histamine, allergy-versus-intolerance, and related topics for a general audience. We are not doctors, and this is not medical advice.
Sourcing
Every health claim on this site is sourced to a named authority and linked, so you can check it yourself. The bodies we rely on include the NHS, NICE, the World Health Organization, EFSA, the FDA, the CDC, peer-reviewed research (PubMed, Cochrane), and recognized domain bodies such as Monash University (FODMAP), SIGHI (histamine), the British Dietetic Association, AAAAI, EAACI, BSACI, and Coeliac UK. We name our sources in the text, not just in a footer. We do not write "studies show" without the study.
Honesty and our limits
We describe possible patterns and suspects to test, not diagnoses. Where a condition is contested or has no validated test, we say so plainly rather than sounding more certain than the evidence allows. We do not sell or rely on blood tests, and we explain honestly why IgG/IgG4 food-sensitivity panels are not recommended by the major allergy bodies for diagnosing intolerance. We are not a medical device.
Review and accuracy
Content is reviewed for accuracy against the cited sources before publication and carries a visible "last reviewed" date. We hold a shared internal registry of vetted facts so that recurring claims stay consistent and correct across the site. A registered dietitian or clinician review is the standard we are working toward for our health pages; where a named reviewer has checked a page, we name them with their real credentials. Until then we use, and disclose, an editorial review process. We never invent a reviewer or a credential.
AI use
Our content is produced with AI assistance and reviewed by humans against named sources. We disclose this on every article, in keeping with transparency expectations (including the EU AI Act). The disclosure is a statement of how the page was made, not a claim of authority.
Independence
intolerance.app is an independent resource. The team behind it also builds the GIMETRY app; where we mention the app, we say so plainly and only where it genuinely helps the reader's next step. We do not present ourselves as a neutral third party reviewing our own product.
Safety
We route anything that looks like a food allergy (rapid or severe reactions) to a doctor and to emergency care, and we handle restriction and food-fear topics with care, pointing readers to professional support. Our content never replaces a consultation with a qualified clinician.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and transparently. See our corrections policy.
