Our Approach

The Science Behind Intolerance.app

We combine rule-based pattern detection with AI enhancement to help you identify food intolerances. Here's how it works and what evidence it's based on.

How the Analysis Works

1

16 Specialized Detectors

Rule-based pattern matching algorithms that correlate your meal ingredients with symptom timing. Each detector uses temporal windows specific to its intolerance type β€” for example, histamine symptoms typically appear within 30 minutes to 2 hours, while gluten sensitivity symptoms can take up to 48 hours.

2

AI Enhancement (Google Gemini)

A large language model analyzes your food logs alongside detector findings to identify complex, multi-factor patterns that rule-based systems alone might miss. The AI acts as a second opinion β€” it can boost or contradict detector findings based on the full context of your data.

3

Confidence Scoring

Every finding comes with a confidence level based on the strength and consistency of the evidence. We never fabricate findings β€” if the data isn't strong enough, we say so. Confidence levels range from "Possible" (early signal) to "Very High" (strong, consistent pattern).

The Evidence Base

What We Are β€” And What We're Not

What we are

  • A tracking and pattern detection tool
  • Science-informed analysis engine
  • GDPR-compliant, AES-256 encrypted health data
  • A conversation starter for your doctor
  • Available in 5 European languages

What we're not

  • NOT a medical device (EU MDR / US FDA)
  • NOT a diagnostic tool
  • NOT a replacement for professional medical advice
  • NOT suitable for detecting food allergies (immune-mediated)

Important: Always consult your healthcare provider before making dietary changes based on our analysis. Our results are informational and designed to support β€” not replace β€” professional medical guidance.
